WHRB WHRB 95.3 FM is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. WHRB is operated by students at Harvard College. WHRB is a commercial FM radio station. WHRB began broadcasting in 1940. For over 40 years, WHRB 95.3 FM has been Boston’s first source for exciting, entertaining classical music programming. WHRB 95.3 FM broadcasts the widest possible variety of classical music every day between 1 and 10pm, and Sundays until midnight. One of the popular and oldest programs is WHRB Orgy. WHRB Orgy tradition began over fifty-five years ago, in the Spring of 1943. The history of WHRB Orgy is said that one Harvard student, which was one of the staff members of WHRB, returned to the station after a particularly difficult exam and played all of Beethoven’s nine symphonies consecutively to celebrate the end of a long, hard period of studying. Nowadays, each January and May, during the Reading and Exam Periods of Harvard College, WHRB presents the Orgy. Today Orgies are consecutive presentations of the entire musical output of composers, record labels, or genres, sometimes running 24 hours a day for a week or more.
