WCPE is owned and operated by the Educational Information Corporation, a North Carolina non-profit broadcasting organization. WCPE is a non-commercial, independent, listener-supported station. WCPE began broadcasting in 1978 and switched to a 24-hour classical music format in 1984. At WCPE 89.7 FM the power of classical music transforms ordinary experiences into extraordinary ones- every day.
