KWTU 88.7 FM is a classical music radio station in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Most of the station’s classical programming comes from National Public Radio. KWTU is owned and operated by The University of Tulsa. KWTU is a listener-supported service of the University of Tulsa and , in part, it is funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. KWTU began broadcasting in 2004 and owes a debt of gratitude to John K. Major, owner of Tulsa’s first commercial classical music station. Classical 88.7 KWTU broadcasts from Kendall Hall on the TU campus. From a tower located near Coweta, Oklahoma, KWTU serves Tulsa with 5,000 watts. KWTU is the first station in Oklahoma to broadcast in digital HD Radio. KWTU provides comprehensive classical music programming, combining original productions, distinctive specialty programs, live concert presentations and the talents of local and nationally-recognized hosts. KWTU helps keep the arts thriving in our community by making wonderful classical music accessible to all.
