KPBX 91.1 FM is a public radio station serving Spokane, Washington. Today, the station broadcasts a mix of NPR news, classical music and jazz. KPBX broadcasts some of the best available recordings of classical music, plus some performances live from the studio. KPBX‘s classical broadcasts are the most appealing classical music from every era, with special emphasis on new releases and music of timely interest. Great works – broadcast complete – by the foremost composers are complemented by intriguing discoveries from the past and certainly the best of today’s compositions. Verne Windham frequently features music and discussions with local artists. For example, in the program “Guitar Hour” classical guitarist Leon Atkinson joins Verne Windham in the KPBX studio on Thursday at 11am for an hour and they transmit live and recorded music. “Performance Today” is hosted by Fred Child and shows NPR’s classical music magazine, featuring modern performances of classicial works.
