MDR Figaro Klassik is a radio station in Leipzig, Germany. MDR Figaro helps keep the arts thriving in our community by making wonderful classical music accessible to all. MDR Figaro Klassik brings the listeners renowned programs such as The Historical Record, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy public to experience and many others. Once a month MDR Figaro offers a historic opera recording, for example “Boris Godunov” by Mussorgsky as a nearly complete recording of 1962. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy was a conductor of the Gewandhaus Orchestra from 1835 to 1847, till now he is one of the most important composers of Leipzig and has made the European concert life ahead. Jürgen Ernst speaks about life and works of composers alive.The MDR Figaro Klassik broadcast of Beethoven’s “Ninth” with the final chorus on Schiller’s “Ode to Joy” at the Gewandhaus Orchestra have a great tradition every year.
